Press Releases:

YubaNet.com welcomes press releases from your organization, group, or business. Please follow standard press release format since, in most cases, your press release will be published unedited/unexpurgated using your organization’s byline. Submissions consisting of one paragraph announcements will not be considered. If you have a website, please include the URL. Submissions must be in electronic format. Send photos and/or graphics with your press release, preferably high resolution and larger size (see the submission guidelines.)

We will consider submissions from anyone, including press secretaries, shameless self-promoters, and public relations representatives who view YubaNet readers as a valuable audience but are too cheap to place their clients’ advertising with us. We will not consider submissions previously published in other outlets – send your releases simultaneously to all outlets. If you abuse our generosity, we may limit your exposure. And if you’re going to ask YubaNet readers to read what you write, make it helpful to them and not just you. Our tagline is “We Deliver News to the Sierra,” and we mean it.

Submission guidelines are available for download here.

Op-Eds:

As with press releases, all submissions must be in electronic format. Submissions must include your real name, city, state and phone number. Only your name, city and state of residence will be published if we choose to publish your op-ed. During election season, you are welcome to submit letters of support for candidates, we will consider submission up to 5 days before an election.

Word limit:

YubaNet.com is an electronic medium and does not impose a word limit. Tell our readers the who, what, where, when, how/why – not everyone is familiar with every organization in the area. Nevertheless, brevity is the soul of wit so we recommend the following guideline: try to keep it under 1,700 words.

Editing:

If your letter is selected for publication, it will be posted as received (including misspellings and grammatical errors). Hint: use spell check.

Content:

YubaNet.com adheres to a strict civility policy. Only issue-oriented opinions will be considered for publication.

YubaNet.com does not publish any opinion that denigrates anyone on the basis of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.

YubaNet.com protects the right of privacy of non-public figures as defined by professional media associations and media law.
